COMMUNITY HEALTH CAMP 2026 – CARING FOR THOSE IN NEED
The Lions Club of Colombo LEADS, together with the Moraketiya Pannipitiya Business Association, successfully conducted a Community Health Camp on 05 September 2026 at the Parama Dhamma Temple, Pannipitiya.
The Health Camp was organized with the aim of bringing essential healthcare services closer to people in the community, particularly those who may find it difficult to access medical consultations, investigations, and specialist services on a regular basis.
A large number of people attended the programme and received medical consultations, health screening, diagnostic investigations, eye care, dental services, blood sugar testing, specialist consultations, and other medical services. Medical professionals, Lions, and volunteers worked together throughout the day to ensure that each participant received the attention and guidance required.
A DAY OF CARE FOR THOSE WHO NEEDED IT MOST
Many of the people who attended the Health Camp were elderly men and women from the surrounding community. For them, having access to several medical services at one location was a valuable opportunity to have their health checked and to receive professional advice without having to visit different facilities for each service.
The photographs from the Health Camp reflect the real purpose of the project — serving people who genuinely needed medical attention and giving them an opportunity to look after their health. Seeing the elderly members of the community receiving care and attention made the efforts of everyone involved especially meaningful.
The programme also helped identify health concerns that required further medical attention and follow-up. Participants were advised and referred according to their individual requirements, allowing the Health Camp to become more than just a one-day medical screening programme.
MANY SERVICES UNDER ONE ROOF
The Health Camp brought together a wide range of medical services, including the Eye Clinic, Vision Screening, Dental Clinic, Blood Sugar Screening, Laboratory Testing, ultrasound scanning, lung function testing, ECG, hearing tests, and specialist medical consultations.
The availability of these services in one location gave participants an opportunity to attend to several aspects of their health during the same programme.
SERVICE THROUGH TEAMWORK
The success of the Health Camp was made possible through the combined efforts of the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS, Moraketiya Pannipitiya Business Association, medical professionals, Lions, volunteers, and everyone who contributed towards the programme.
We are grateful to everyone who gave their time, knowledge, and support to make this Health Camp possible. Most importantly, we are happy that the project reached people who genuinely needed these services and gave them an opportunity to receive care, advice, and attention.
