RUKANTHA GUNATHILAKE – A SPECIAL MUSICAL MOMENT AT LIONS’ HOPE

The Lions Club of Colombo LEADS is deeply grateful to renowned Sri Lankan artist Rukantha Gunathilake for joining us at our charity fundraising event, “Lions’ Hope,” held on 10 November 2023 at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Galadari.

The audience warmly welcomed Rukantha Gunathilake, and his performance created a wonderful atmosphere as guests enjoyed his music and celebrated the spirit of Lions’ Hope. His participation was one of the memorable highlights of an evening dedicated to entertainment, fellowship, and service.

A DISTINGUISHED MUSICAL JOURNEY

Rukantha Gunathilake has been a prominent figure in Sri Lankan music for several decades as a singer, composer, songwriter, and music director. He began his musical career as a composer and later became widely recognized as a singer, establishing himself as one of the distinctive voices in Sinhala popular music.

His musical journey includes many well-known songs and albums, including “Bambara Pahasa,” “Diganthaye,” “Anatha Maruthe,” “Sanda Pini Diye,” and “Sithin Sina Sisi.” His work with his wife, singer Chandralekha Perera, has also been an important part of his musical career, with their performances and concerts reaching audiences in Sri Lanka and overseas.

Over the years, Rukantha has earned a special place among Sri Lankan music lovers through his distinctive musical style and memorable songs. His music continues to remain familiar to generations of listeners, making his appearance at Lions’ Hope particularly meaningful for many of the guests who attended the event.
