ALMSGIVING TO SINHARAJA CAVE MONASTERY

During the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS organised an almsgiving at Sinharaja Cave Monastery on 13 December 2020. With donations to the monastery having ceased during this difficult time, the initiative aimed to provide essential support to the resident monks and address their immediate needs.

Led by Project Chairpersons Lion Kasun Kodippilly and Lion Sadee Jayawardene, the initiative brought together club members in a meaningful act of compassion and service. The almsgiving was organised under the Lions International theme of “Hunger,” reflecting the club’s commitment to supporting those facing hardship and ensuring that the needs of the monastery’s resident monks were not overlooked.

This initiative demonstrated the spirit of Lions service by extending care and support to the monks at a time when the monastery faced difficulties receiving donations. Through this act of generosity, the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS reaffirmed its dedication to serving communities in need, particularly during times of crisis.

The club extends its sincere appreciation to Lion Kasun Kodippilly, Lion Sadee Jayawardene, and all members who contributed to the initiative. The club is also grateful to Sinharaja Cave Monastery for providing the opportunity to extend this support during a particularly challenging period.
