A CLEARER FUTURE – 100 PAIRS OF SPECTACLES FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN

As part of the Community Health Camp 2026, vision screening was also conducted for schoolchildren. The screening helped identify children who may require spectacles to improve their vision and support their day-to-day learning activities.

Following the screening, the Lions Club of Colombo LEADS is planning a separate project to provide 100 pairs of spectacles to schoolchildren who require vision correction.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN THROUGH BETTER VISION

For a child, being able to see clearly in the classroom is an important part of learning. Difficulty in seeing the blackboard, reading books, or following classroom activities can affect a child’s education and confidence.

Through this follow-up project, we hope to provide the necessary spectacles to 100 schoolchildren, helping them see more clearly and participate more comfortably in their education.

This initiative is another example of how a health screening programme can identify needs that can be addressed through continued community service. The vision screening conducted at the Health Camp has therefore opened the way for a dedicated project focused on the well-being and education of children.

FROM SCREENING TO ACTION

The planned distribution of 100 pairs of spectacles is a continuation of the service provided through the Community Health Camp 2026. Lion Eng. Chinthaka will separately coordinate this project and make the necessary arrangements to provide the spectacles to the selected schoolchildren.

The Lions Club of Colombo LEADS is pleased to continue supporting the community through projects that address practical needs and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Helping a child see clearly is also helping that child learn, grow, and look towards a brighter future.
