MARIANS – A MEMORABLE MUSICAL EVENING AT LIONS’ HOPE

The Lions Club of Colombo LEADS is deeply grateful to Nalin Perera and the Marians for being part of our charity fundraising event, “Lions’ Hope,” held on 10 November 2023 at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Galadari.

Their participation added tremendous energy and excitement to the evening. Marians brought the audience together through their music and entertaining performance, creating an atmosphere filled with happiness, enthusiasm, and fellowship. The huge crowd responded with great excitement and thoroughly enjoyed their performance, making it one of the memorable highlights of the evening.

A JOURNEY OF MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

Under the leadership of Nalin Perera, Marians began their journey in 1988 when Nalin, then a student and Head Prefect of St. Mary’s College, Chilaw, formed the band with his schoolmates. The first Marians concert was held on 11 February 1988, marking the beginning of a musical journey that would grow into one of Sri Lanka’s well-known bands.

Over the years, Marians expanded their musical journey beyond Sri Lanka, performing in many countries and building a wide international following. The band has also produced numerous albums and developed its own recording facilities. In 2006, Marians introduced the “Marians Unplugged” concept, which became highly popular among music lovers and established another important milestone in their musical journey.

For Lions’ Hope, Nalin Perera and the Marians generously joined us in support of our fundraising efforts. Their music brought together people of different ages and backgrounds and helped create the joyful atmosphere that made the evening so special.

We sincerely appreciate Nalin Perera and every member of Marians for giving their time and talent to support this charitable cause. Their contribution helped make Lions’ Hope not only a successful fundraising event, but also a wonderful evening that our guests will remember for years to come.
